The third wing to Mountjoy Prison refurbishment scheme has begun, A-Wing.
This will also involve the complete refurbishment of all cells with in cell sanitation and refurbishment of all offices to latest modern building standards.
There was a new cell steel door designed to accommodate the old prison walls. The cell door incorporates a continuous hinge and an anti barricade feature. The door has been tested and approved to meet the Irish Prison Service requirements.
